David J. Watson, 79, Greencastle, born Sept. 30, 1938, passed away on Feb. 25, 2018.

Dave proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After leaving the service, he worked for Rough Notes Printing.

He also worked as a taxi driver, for Gates Title and Marble. He then worked for Allison Division of GM as a storage unit manager, from which he eventually retired.

After retirement he worked in customer service at Big Lots, Home Goods and Shoe Sensation as an assistant manager.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge for 50 years, as well as the Elks Lodge, VFW Auxiliary, Eagles and the Sons of American Legion.

He volunteered at the Rescued Treasures and Beyond Homeless Shelter thrift shop in Greencastle.

He enjoyed many residences, Connersville, Beloit, Wis., Indianapolis, Maywood, Speedway, Greenwood, Beech Grove, Plainfield, Cloverdale, Tucson, Ariz., and finally settled in Greencastle.

I want to thank the literally thousands of good-hearted, well meaning people and the half-dozen or so really bad apples it has been my privilege to know.

My legacy is three almost perfect adult children, one almost perfect son-in-law. Three absolutely perfect grandchildren. Two more than perfect great-grandchildren and three awesome sisters. Who could ask for a better legacy? ...

A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at 590 W. Main St., Jamestown.

Arrangements entrusted to Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St., Zionsville.
