236 closing March 5 until Aug. 15, west of U.S. 231

RUSSELLVILLE – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that State Road 236 will close on or after Monday, March 5 for a deck replacement and rehabilitation on the bridge over Big Raccoon Creek, located just over one mile west of U.S. 231 in Putnam County.

White Construction Inc. was awarded the $1.9 million contract. The roadway is scheduled to reopen on Aug. 15.

The detour follows U.S. 231 north to SR 234, west to SR 47, then south to SR 59 south and back to SR 236.

The INDOT contract also includes a small structure replacement on SR 236, approximately one mile west of the west junction of SR 59. The work on that structure will begin on or after July 15.
