GREENFIELD — Jalen Moore scored 40 points to lead Cloverdale past Shenandoah 66-61 in the semifinals of the Greenfield-Central boys’ basketball regional on Saturday afternoon.

The Clovers advanced to play Indianapolis Scecina, a 56-42 winner over Union County in Saturday’s first game, in the championship.

Moore had five points in the first quarter as the Clovers jumped out to a 22-10 lead at the first stop.

Moore got rolling in the second quarter, scoring 21 points on 6 of 9 from the field and 8 of 9 from the line. Cloverdale led 46-26 at halftime.

“We could tell [Friday] that we shot the ball really, really well in practice,” Cloverdale coach Patrick Rady said. “In every game in the tournament, we have started out in good shape offensively.

“This has been our mission all year... we didn’t come here to just win one game. But the morning game was something that has been a hurdle for us.”

“They went to that little 3-2 halfcourt defense, and we didn’t score as well — but I thought we had some good looks,” Rady said. “That was the defense we thought we were going to see.”

The Raiders kept chipping away, with a basket and free throw from Jordan Starks cutting the deficit to 59-57 with 2:48 to play.

Cloverdale never gave up the lead, however. Moore and Parker Watts each hit a free throw in the final minute, before Moore nailed two in a row with 28.9 seconds left for a 63-57 lead.
