Rena S. Blue

Rena S. Blue, 93, of Greencastle, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Putnam County Hospital.

Rena was born in San Diego, Calif., on Oct. 27, 1924.

She was a graduate of San Diego California High School.

Mrs. Blue opened a thrift store at Omar Bakery, and had worked as a cook for DePauw University and Greencastle High School. She worked for P.R. Mallory until her retirement in 1972.

After her retirement, she stayed home to take care of her family. She was a dedicated mother and housekeeper.

Rena enjoyed attending church services at Mill Pond every Sunday.

Rena loved to travel. She has been in 49 states 11 provinces and Mexico with her son. She was also an avid mushroom hunter.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Blue, Jonathan Blue and James Blue, all of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Heather Keil (husband Jeff), Greencastle, Jon David Blue (wife Jenny), Chicago, Michael Blue, Bainbridge, and Shaun Blue (wife LeeDonna), Greencastle; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Paul Blue Sr.; three brothers, Allen, James and Raymond Chinchillas; and two sisters, Maria and Mary Chinchillas.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Buck Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday.
