Youth Philanthropy Night at Almost Home sets record

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

The 10th annual Putnam County Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Committee fundraiser was recently hosted by Almost Home Restaurant and owner Gail Smith. On March 8 diners enjoyed a meal and the pleasure of having Youth Philanthropy Committee members assist servers for the evening.

All tips and donations from the evening went toward building the Putnam County Youth Philanthropy Endowment, which provides some of the funding needed for the committee's grant-creating activities.

This year's event raised a record $3,600.27, bringing the 10-year total to more than $20,000.

All funds go into the Putnam County Youth Philanthropy Endowment to provide funding for youth led projects now and into the future.

Since its inception in 2006, the Youth Philanthropy Committee has provided more than $30,000 in funding to more than 60 youth-led projects in Putnam County.

If you were unable to attend but still wish to support this effort, donations to the Youth Philanthropy Endowment may be made online, by mail or in the Community Foundation office at 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle.

The Putnam County Youth Philanthropy Committee is comprised of students from each of the county's four high schools who exhibit leadership and a desire to serve. Members of the 2017-18 Youth Philanthropy Committee are Mason Allen, Gayle Baugh, Garrison Bock, Whitney Boswell, Ben Gellman, Eric Hinkle, Hannah Long, Jaxon Parmley, Lillian Rambis, Mary Timm, Rose White, Annika Whitlock and Ben Wilkerson.
