Tiger Sharks raise more than $1K for Relay for Life; other events planned

Greencastle High School’s swimming teams had their annual “Laps for Life” fundraiser on January 13.

Twenty-five swimmers participated, each swimming 100 laps and soliciting donations for the American Cancer Society.

The team presented a check for $1,030 to the American Cancer Society at its recent winter sports banquet.

Over the past 6 years, the raised $6,426 for the American Cancer Society.

5K set Saturday

A St. Patty’s Day 5K Kickoff will take place on Saturday morning at Robe Ann Park in Greencastle.

Registration begins at 9:30 p.m., with a 10 a.m. start.

“Please join us in kicking off our Relay season strongly,” said Molly Henderson, co-leader of the DePauw student chapter.

A 5K race will take place, as well as a community gathering afterward with snacks and entertainment.

The 2018 Relay for Life of Putnam County/DePauw event will be May 5 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Blackstock Stadium on the DePauw campus with the theme of “Everyday Heroes.”

Event organizers invite everyone to come dressed as their favorite super hero and join the celebration.
