Joyce Ellen Girton, 83, of Greencastle and Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away with loved ones by her side Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville.

Joyce was born May 7, 1934 to William Ezra and Florence Worth (Christy) Arnold.

She married the love of her life, Fred, on April 25, 1953. Theirs was a true love affair that lasted 62 years, until Fred's passing on Dec 13, 2017.

Joyce graduated from Fillmore High School in 1952. She attended Graduate Banking School at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Her first job after high school was as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell for 14 months. From there she went on to work 42 years as assistant vice president at First Citizens Bank (now Old National Bank).

She was a member of Fillmore Christian Church, Daytona Metropolitan Bridge Club and American Contract Bridge League.

Joyce is survived by three sisters, Joan (Al) Veazey of Amarillo, Texas, Wilma Wallace of Coatesville, and Shirley (Jack) Whitley of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a brother, Jimmie (Bobbie Jean) Arnold of Westfield, a sister-in-law, Middy Phillips of Rockville; as well as, many nieces, nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by husband, Fred; her parents; two sisters, Imogene Scobee and Waneta McMains; and her brother, Bobby Arnold.

Visitation will be at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, on Friday, March 23 beginning at 10 a.m. until the funeral, which will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Faust officiating.

Burial will be at Fillmore Cemetery alongside her sweetheart, Fred.
