The Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE Radio and the Banner-Graphic are co-sponsoring two Candidate Forums for the Putnam County community in advance of the primary election in May.

They will be held on Tuesday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Watson Forum of the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media, 609 S. Locust St., on DePauw's campus.

The forum will also be broadcast live on WGRE radio (91.5 FM) and on Greencastle's local cable access Channel 3.

The first forum on April 3 will feature candidates running for county offices. Candidates running for sheriff; County Council, District 3; county commissioner, District 2; and county recorder will be present.

Confirming their intended appearances to the League of Women Voters for the April 3 event are sheriff candidates Jerrod Baugh and incumbent Scott Stockton, both Republicans; Democrat Steve Cash and Republicans Kim Hyten and incumbent Rick Woodall, District 2 commissioner; Democrat Matt Cummings, District 3 County Council; and Republican incumbent Tracy Bridges, county recorder.

Not planning to attend, League of Women Voters officials report, are County Council candidates Jay Fogle, Kyle Nobles and Danny Wallace; and county recorder hopeful Rhonda Chaney.

The second forum on April 10 will feature candidates running for the Indiana House of Representatives, District 44, and U.S. House of Representatives, District 4.

The League reports Democrat Kim Fidler and Republican Jess Norton, candidates for District 44 state representative, as confirming their intended April 10 appearances.

The League says it has had no response from Republican Beau Baird.

In the District 4 U.S. House race planning to attend are Republicans Steve Braun, James Nease, Tim Radice and Jared Thomas and Democrats Tobi Beck, Roger Day, Darin Griesey, Joe Mackey and Veronikka Ziol, who have all confirmed, while the League reports having received no response from GOP candidates Jim Baird, Kevin Grant and Diego Morales and Democrat Roland Ellis.

At the conclusion of each forum audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates. Refreshments will be available.
