Wilson wins HSR 3,200 title

BLOOMINGTON — Greencastle junior Emma Wilson easily won the 3,200-meter title on Saturday at the Hoosier State Relays finals for classes 1A-3A at the IU Gladstein Fieldhouse.

Wilson won the event in an time of 10:32.78, beating runnerup Jenna Barker of Seton Catholic by more than 27 seconds.

Greencastle placed sixth in the team standings with 30 points.

Greencastle finished third in the 4,000 distance medley relay with a time of 13:05.67. Team members were Sydney Kallem, Kennedy Trigg, Mika Mozawa and Wilson.

Sydney Lewis of Greencastle placed 11th in the pole vault at 9-0. Two Tiger Cubs competed in the shot put, with Jada Amis placing fourth at 37-5 and Claire Gillen finishing sixth at 37-1.25.

South Putnam’s 4x800 relay team finished eighth in a time of 10:32.23. Team members were Lexi Vanihel, Lillie Stein, Grace Burdge and Ally Nichols.

Cloverdale’s Tyler Kaeff finished fourth in his heat of the 60-meter hurdles in 8.88 seconds, but did not qualify for the finals.

The Clovers also competed in the 4x400-meter relay but did not place in the top eight. Blake Willis placed 11th in the pole vault at 12-0.
