Charles 'Gordon' Pettit

Gordon Pettit, 78, of Greenwood, passed away March 16, 2018.

He was born May 11, 1939 in Greencastle to the late Charles and Lucy (Green) Pettit.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and after discharge worked in bridge construction for many years.

After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for the gifts and birdhouses he built.

Gordon was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR and spending time sharing stories with family. He will always be remembered for his warm and fun-loving personality.

His other love was family. He leaves behind three children; and a sister, Mary (Pettit) Grimes; a nephew Bruce (Jana) Grimes, and great-nephew Jerry Grimes; and brother Mike (Sylvia) Dunkin.

Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his life partner of 32 years, Gloria Hook; her family, Sandy (Dale) Huckleberry and Cindy (Kevin) Ringham and their families; his friendly neighbors, and his cat, Lucy.

Family and friends will gather at Crestwood Village South Ballroom, 8809 Madison Ave., Greenwood, on Sunday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate his life.

Burial of his ashes will be at Forest Lawn Memory Garden on State Road 135 in Greenwood.

Memorial donations may be made to the Johnson County Animal Shelter in Franklin.
