County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 11:45 p.m. Kyle Austin Miller, 32, Greencastle, was booked in for driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction of driving while intoxicated.

• At 1:21 p.m. Justin Shawn Walsh, 32, Ladoga, was lodged at the jail on a pair of local warrants.

• At 5:14 a.m. Kevin Ryan Spurrier, 44, Bainbridge, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, visiting a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 5:13 a.m. Shayne Craig Frost, 18, Bainbridge, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

• At 12:57 a.m. Jacob Michael Alexander, 25, Fairland, was booked in on a pair of local warrants.

City Police

One arrest was reported in recent activity of Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 2:23 a.m. Friday, Shawna Martin, 39, Greencastle, was arrested on Castlebury Drive by Officer Alec Pettit.

Martin was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of intimidation and disorderly conduct, reportedly acting in a threatening manner toward a neighbor.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, Jeffrey L. McVeigh, 47, Reelsville, was northbound on U.S. 231 near U.S. 40 in a 2003 Dodge Ram when he lost control of the vehicle on a sheet of ice on the road.

The truck slid off the road and into a ditch.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman reported that McVeigh suffered injuries to his back and was taken by Operation Life ambulance to Putnam County Hospital.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
