Greencastle Eagles set April 21 fundraiser

Monday, April 16, 2018

The Greencastle Eagles Lodge will have a Charcot-Marie-Tooth disorder (CMT) benefit on Saturday, April 21.

There will be bake sale and silent auction with a spaghetti dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. at the lodge, 207 W. Elizabeth St.

The Under the Radar band will play from 8 p.m. until midnight.

The event is open to the public.

CMT is a neurological disorder named after the three physicians who first described it in 1886 — Jean-Martin Charcot and Pierre Marie of France, and Howard Henry Tooth of the United Kingdom.

Affecting about 1 in 2,500 people, CMT causes damage to peripheral nerves, which carry signals from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles, and relay sensations, such as pain and touch, to the brain and spinal cord from the rest of the body.
