Applications are available at City Hall, 1 N. Locust St., and also on the city's website at www.cityofgreencastle.com. Completed applications will be accepted at City Hall until noon Friday, May 18.

In addition to providing name, address, telephone number and email address, the application asks that candidates submit a cover letter accompanied by two letters of recommendation.

Applicants are also asked to answer four questions posed by Council members:

-- What are the greatest strengths you would bring as a member of the Greencastle Community School Corporation Board of Trustees?

-- What goals would you pursue as a member of the Greencastle Community School Corporation Board of Trustees?

-- What is the ideal relationship between the school corporation and the City of Greencastle?

-- Is there anything else you would like to share with the members of the City Council about your qualifications for the position?

Candidate interviews with the City Council will be scheduled at a later date. Interested persons must reside within the city limits to be considered. The appointment will be made at the regular meeting of the City Council on June 14.

The available school board seat is one of two representing residents within the city limits of Greencastle on the appointed GCSC board.

Brian Cox, who was selected by the school board on Feb. 6 to fill a vacancy created by Denise Sigworth's resignation, will serve through June 30, 2020, at which time the City Council will choose who will serve the following four years.

Besides the City Council appointing the seats held by Cox and Lazar, the Greencastle Township trustee has appointed Mike White and Bill Tobin and the Madison Township trustee appointed Dale Pierce.
