Trooper stops motorcycle speeding along at 114 mph on I-70
CLOVERDALE -- A 23-year-old New York motorcyclist, claiming he was "just checking out" his bike, was ticketed for going in excess of 100 mph and cited for reckless driving Wednesday on Interstate 70 in Putnam County, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.
At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, ISP Region V Dispatch Center received a 911 call from motorists concerned about a motorcycle reportedly "lane splitting" while traveling at a high rate of speed along westbound I-70 near the 39-mile marker, two miles west of Cloverdale.
Dispatchers alerted troopers and within moments, Master Trooper DuJuan Presley-McFadden, who was on routine patrol at the time, spotted the 2017 Ducati and paced it on radar at 114 mph.
The veteran trooper subsequently stopped the bike at the 35-mile marker westbound, ticketing Sam K. Moskowitz of New York for speeding (114 mph in a 70-mph zone) and reckless driving. That's when the New Yorker told police he was just checking the bike out.
Ducati, whose motorcycles are widely used in racing circles, is an Italian motorcycle-manufacturing company, headquartered in Bologna. The company is owned by German automotive manufacturer Audi through its Italian subsidiary Lamborghini.
