Friday, April 27, 2018

Cloverdale closed out its regular season in track and field by winning a pair of meets this week.

“We had some monster times,” Clover coach Andy Tyler said after Thursday’s meet, noting that Kenzie Stoltz broke 16 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles and Tyler Kaeff broke 15 seconds in the 110 high hurdles.

In other track:

• Eagles second in triangulars — Monrovia won both the boys’ and the girls’ meets that also included Greenwood Christian and Rockville.

South boys’ coach Nathan Aker thought his team performed well in its final meet before Tuesday’s county event.

Christian Zeffel and Tyler Scroggin had outstanding performances with two wins each.

South was also able to win the 400m relay as well as the 1600m relay, but Aker said Monrovia’s depth took charge at the end of the night.

“We are very proud of our guys for this gutsy performance,” he said. “We had multiple guys stepping up an into different roles as we heal up for the Putnam County meet on Tuesday.”
