Donald E. Grine

Donald E. Grine, 83, of West Unity, Ohio, passed away at 9:33 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, while holding his wife's hand, under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.

Donald was born Dec. 2, 1934 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of the late Edward H. and Clara T. (Limbaugh) Grine Sheets.

He was a 1952 graduate of West Unity High School. Don was a veteran of the United States Army.

He married Norma L. McBride on July 14, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1996. He then married Patricia (Krill) Keller on May 16, 1998 in Montpelier, and she survives.

Don was the Bryan yard manager for the Isaac Corp. for 26 years, retiring in 1997. Prior to this, Don had worked for Challenge Cook and Swetnam Pipeline. He also operated his own snowmobile repair shop, D & M, out of his home.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montpelier, and West Unity American Legion Post 669.

Don enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home, working in the garden and yard, riding around on his golf cart, working in his shop and attending his grandchildren's activities.

Surviving is his wife, Patricia of West Unity; his twin children, Laura (Rick) Sharp of Greencastle, and Mark (Angie) Grine of Liberty Center, Ohio; four stepchildren, Jeff (Jan) Hartman of Clearwater, Fla., Randy (Marcia) Hartman of Montpelier, Vickie (David) Wingfield of Naples, Fla., and Sharon (Todd) Ziegler of Archbold, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ryan (Katrina) Queen, Matt (Ashley) Queen, Kristin (Eric) Vermillion, Nathan Grine and Seth Grine; 10 step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Dee) Grine of West Unity, and one sister, Leona Whitis of Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Joe Sheets; wife Norma; granddaughter Erika Grine; brother-in-law Duane Whitis and sister-in-law Thelma Grine

Visitation for Donald E. Grine will be held Wednesday, May 9 from 2-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Greenisen Chapel, 225 E. High St., Bryan, Ohio, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 220 S. East Ave., Montpelier. Funeral Mass for Donald will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Fred Duschl officiating.

Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, with military graveside rites accorded by the West Unity American Legion Post 669.
