City Police

Five weekend arrests were made by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, Todd W. Sheets, 62, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Alec Pettit on Washington Street near Madison.

Sheets was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail for driving a vehicle while intoxicated.

• At 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, Mark Boehm, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody by Officer Josh Smith on Avenue E.

Lodged at the Putnam County Jail, Boehm is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, residential entry, public intoxication and criminal mischief .

• At 1:59 a.m. on Sunday, Angel Calderon, 24, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Calderon was taken into custody on Bloomington Street for three counts of domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

• At 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, Alex Gaston, 27, Greenfield, was arrested by Sgt. Eric Vaughn.

Taken into custody on Gardenside Drive, Gaston is accused of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and battery on law enforcement.

• At 12:32 a.m. on Saturday, Michael Kent Hanlon, 56, Greencastle was taken into custody by Officer Pettit.

Arrested on Gardenside Dr., Hanlon is charged with strangulation and domestic battery.

City officers also issued a pair or recent summonses as well as two tickets.

• At 9:07 p.m. on Sunday, Christopher McWilliams, 20, Brazil, was charged with possession of marijuana by Sgt. Eric Vaughn.

McWilliams was issued a summons to appear in court on the charge.

• At 4:43 a.m. on Saturday, Chandler Hyten, 21, Fillmore, issued a summons by Sgt. Vaughn on Avenue C.

Hyten is charged with possession of a synthetic drug or lookalike substance.

• At 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Skyler Parks, 31, Greencastle, was ticketed for disregarding a traffic control device.

• At 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 11:59 p.m. Ada Stapert, 26, Greencastle, was stopped by Sgt. Vaughn on West Walnut Street near Madison.

Stapert was ticketed for driving without financial responsibility.

County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 3:25 a.m. Victoria Elizabeth Rutenberg, 40, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 9:09 p.m. Garry Gene Jones, 60, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

• At 11:33 a.m. Paul Andrew Brown, 50, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 1:11 p.m. Roberto Ramirez-Cruz, 42, Rosemead, Calif., was lodged at the jail for human trafficking and transporting an undocumented immigrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 8:05 p.m. Friday, Bradley S. Wiley, 17, Indianapolis, was westbound on County Road 500 North at U.S. 231 in a 2003 Chrysler Sebring. James M. Owen, 37, Brazil, was northbound on U.S. 231, approaching 500 North in a 2015 Chevrolet Cruz.

Wiley told Deputy Jeffery Freeman he did not look both ways before crossing 231 and Owen’s car hit the left rear of his vehicle.

Both vehicles suffered minor damage and were driven from the scene.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
