Eagles to open tennis sectional

South Putnam will host an Indiana High School Athletic Association girls’ tennis sectional from Wednesday through Friday this week.

The Eagles will open the tourney on Wednesday by meeting Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m.

Greencastle will play South Vermillion in Thursday’s first semifinal match at 5:30 p.m.

Defending champion Northview will meet the winner between South Putnam and Owen Valley at 7 p.m. in the second semifinal match.

Thursday’s winners will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Friday for the sectional title, with the winner advancing to the Crawfordsville Regional.

Any No. 1 singles players or doubles teams undefeated in sectional play, but whose teams were eliminated, will also advance to the regional next week.

• Crossover games today — East Division teams will host Western Indiana Conference crossover games today in both baseball and softball.

Game time is 6 p.m. for most of the contests.

• 1st/2nd place — Sullivan at Indian Creek

• 3rd/4th place — Northview at Edgewood

• 5th/6th place — West Vigo at Owen Valley

• 7th/8th place — South Putnam at Brown County

• 9th/10th place — Greencastle at Cascade

• 11th/12th place — North Putnam at Cloverdale

Softball

• 1st/2nd place — Northview at Brown County

• 3rd/4th place — West Vigo at Edgewood

• 5th/6th place — South Putnam at Indian Creek

• 7th/8th place — North Putnam at Cloverdale

• 9th/10th place — Sullivan at Cascade

• 11th/12th place — Greencastle at Owen Valley.
