County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 12:55 p.m. Terrill Trivett, 52, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a Hendricks County warrant.

• At 10:22 a.m. Robert Joseph Sabo III, 32, Danville, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 10:21 a.m. Thierno Souleymane Balde, 22, The Bronx, N.Y., was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 10:21 p.m. Angela Lynne Harris, 41, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant for violation of probation and battery.

• At 7:51 p.m. Elizabeth Ellen Collier, 34, Mooresville, was lodged at the jail for possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 7:38 p.m. Abigail L. Scott, 38, Mooresville, was taken into custody for possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 6:48 p.m. Dan Ray Jones, 33, Martinsville, was housed at the jail for possession of a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe and for driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:46 p.m. Warren David Hill Jr., 42, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 12:27 p.m. Daniel Leroy Standifer, 21, Poland, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

A 20-year-old Clay County man will be summoned into court following a recent traffic stop by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:07 p.m. Sunday, Bailey McWilliams, Brazil, was stopped on Veterans Memorial Highway by Sgt. Eric Vaughan.

McWilliams was issued a summons to appear in court to answer charges of possession of marijuana and was released from the scene.

Three drivers were recently issued citations by city officers.

• At 2:12 p.m. Tuesday, William Grogan II, 41, Coatesville, was ticketed by Officer Kyle Lee.

Stopped on East Hanna Street, Grogan was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license while having a prior offense.

• At 2:57 a.m. Tuesday, Sonya Unger, 34, Terre Haute, was given two citations by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Unger was ticketed for knowingly or intentionally operating a motor vehicle without ever being licensed and for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

Unger was also reportedly given warning tickets for speeding and improper passing.

• At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Thomas Ostien, 63, Greencastle, was ticketed on North Jackson Street by Capt. Charles Inman.

Ostien was cited for having an expired license plate, which had an expiration date of Aug. 28, 2017.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage accidents.

• At 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Noah Benckendorf, 22, Deer Creek, Ill., was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2004 Chrysler 300M.

Benckendorf told Deputy Tanner Brown he dozed off and ended up in a ditch.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 3:51 p.m. on Sunday, Collin D. Cassady, 22, La Grange Park, Ill., was northbound on U.S. 231, just south of County Road 1400 North, in a 2012 Ford.

Cassady told Deputy Brian Helmer he got distracted and attempted to pick something up. At that time, the vehicle left the roadway and hit multiple trees.

Cassady also told Helmer that after the accident he was dizzy, so Operation Life transported him to Putnam County Hospital.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, David Carr, 30, Crawfordsville, was northbound on County Road 675 East on a 2016 Harley-Davidson. John Robertson, 52, Roachdale, had been eastbound on 1050 North and was turning northbound onto 675 East in a 2006 Dodge Ram.

Robertson pulled into the path of the motorcycle and Carr could not avoid colliding with the side of the pickup.

Carr was ejected from the motorcycle but said he suffered only a few scrapes. Both drivers declined medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6 a.m. on Saturday, Paula M. Martin, 49, Russellville, was eastbound on State Road 243, just west of County Road 625 East, in a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox when she hit a deer.

Deputy Donnie Pettit estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
