About 20 Model A Fords, on a summer motoring tour, are expected to visit Charlie's in Greencastle, around lunch time on Friday, June 1.

The Prairie A's Antique Ford Club plans to visit the restaurant for lunch. An exact time is not available.

Club members will park their restored vehicles in Charlie's north lot and/or across the street in the section of Robe-Ann Park that used to house Clearwaters' nursery and vegetable stand.

The public is welcome to stop and see the cars, Charlie's Manager Troy Scott said.

"They may be able to talk briefly to the owners," Scott said, "although they are a schedule. Once leaving us, they will be heading to Brown County."

Prairie A's Club spokesman John Pratt said the group's schedule is fairly tight, making it difficult to pinpoint an exact time the cars will be at Charlie's, 424 Bloomington St., on Friday.

"Our arrival depends greatly on any difficulties we might have along the road," he said of the club, which is centered in Champaign-Urbana, Ill. "We also have a gas stop just up the road from you as well before we push on south."

Pratt said the group's adventures are "various and numerous during the warm months of the year."

"We are really not a car show group," he stressed. "Instead, we like to drive the cars on short and extended tours, generally around the east-central Illinois area. Each year we take a multi-day tour."

This year it's a four-day tour to Nashville, Ind., with 20 cars participating. The group will stay at Turkey Run Park Lodge Thursday night with the next two nights at the Abe Martin Lodge in the Brown County State Park.

"We are a group dedicated to the preservation and history of early Ford cars and to the fun of owning and driving one," Pratt said. "We do not require members to own an antique car to join our club ... but to just enjoy them as much as we do."
