Janet Kaye Deaton

Janet Kaye Deaton, 65, of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 with family by her side.

She was born Sept. 16, 1952 in Greencastle, the daughter of Charles and Doris (Ragsdale) Lyon.

She was a 1970 graduate of North Putnam High School.

She had attended the Bainbridge United Methodist Church.

Janet had served as the Putnam County treasurer for eight years, retiring in 2010. She had previously worked in the Putnam County Auditor's Office, AUL and more than 17 years with American States Insurance offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet is survived by her husband, Dennis L. Deaton; a daughter, Brandee (husband Darin) Jackson; a brother, Chuck Lyons; and four grandchildren, Jarett, Jayce, Jalee and Jaetyn Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Interment will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to the American Cancer Society.
