Larry Dean Servies

Larry Dean Servies, 84, of Waveland, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Franciscan Health, Crawfordsville.

He was born Aug. 9, 1933 in Waveland to the late Lawrence and Agnes (Hayes) Servies.

Larry was a Waveland High School graduate, graduating in 1951, after which he then graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1952.

He served in the United States Army from 1954-56.

He owned and operated Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland and Servies and Morgan Funeral Homes in Ladoga and Roachdale, as well as the furniture store and Servies & Morgan Hardware.

Larry served on the Waveland Fire Department since 1950 where he served as the fire chief for 35 years.

He was a member of Waveland Covenant United Methodist Church and Indiana Funeral Directors Association.

He is survived by his best friend, Wanda Hopkins, Indianapolis, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4 at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Rev. William Pike officiating. Graveside and burial with military rites will follow at Waveland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 3 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the Waveland Fire Department or the Waveland Presbyterian Cemetery.
