Music Mondays, a free concert series for kids, will begin Monday, June 4 at Robe-Ann Park.

The concerts will be at 1 p.m. each Monday through July 16.

The summer feeding program conducted by Greencastle Community Schools will also be at the park, so kids can get a free meal right before each concert starts.

The concerts are set to take place in the bandshell, but until its completion, they will be at Shelter No. 1, overlooking the bandshell site.

The series will open on Monday and close on July 16 with shows by Miss Bobbie, better known in the community as Bobbie Lancaster.

The worship coordinator at Greencastle Christian Church, Lancaster has been in the music business in some form for more than 15 years, with her folk stylings raning from secular to kids’ to gospel and worship music in recent years.

She released two kids’ albums, “Little Folks” and “Little Folks 2: Live & Laughing,” in 2008 and 2009, respectively. At the time, her kids were babies and she was working as a preschool teacher in Bloomington. The original songs on the albums were written with learning objectives in mind.

Through her kids’ music experience, she wound up a teaching artist for Arts for Learning, which took her into lower income, inner-city schools in Indianapolis. She has also worked with the Indianapolis library network and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

Music for Monday’s performance will be a mix of originals, traditional tunes, interactive fun and maybe even an open mic time for kids to take the stage.

Additional performers in the lineup include: June 11-Bryan Langdoc, June 18-Mike Van Rensselaer, June 25-Jim “Figgy” Hardwick with music, magic and laughs, July 2-Kevin Johnson, July 9-Camp Discovery at Greencastle Christian Church and July 16-Miss Bobbie.
