Auditions set for Playhouse production of 'Beauty and The Beast'

Director Lee Reberger will have two rounds of auditions for the musical "Disney's Beauty and The Beast" at the Putnam County Playhouse.

The first session will be Sunday, June 10 at 7 p.m. with a follow-up session on Monday, June 11. Both will be held at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre off Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

All roles are open and include Belle, the heroine of the fairy tale; The Beast, a prince who is living under a curse; Gaston, the town bully and his sidekick, LeFou; Maurice, Belle's father; and the folks who live under spells in the castle, including Mrs. Potts, her son Chip, Lumiere and Cogsworth; and the townspeople.

Those auditioning for all roles except Chip (stage age 9-12) should be at least 16.

The musical is being sponsored by First National Bank.

The Playhouse season opens Thursday with the musical "Annie."
