Larry ‘Sonny’ Cox

Larry “Sonny” Cox, 70, of Carbon passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He had been hospitalized since Sunday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born Dec. 15, 1947 to the late Raymond W. “Coxie” and Lillian (Garrett) Cox. He grew up in the Russellville community and attended school there.

He was an avid lover of music, especially old time rock and roll and country. For many years he was a lead guitar player and singer in many different bands in the area.

For years he worked for Rose Brothers Trucking Co. He retired from Lear Manufacturing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all time with his four grandchildren.

He is survived by son Larry R. Cox, daughter Marlana R. (Jamie) House, grandsons Dalton Garrett Miller and Logan Douglas Miller, granddaughters Lauren Riley House and Marae Kaylee House, sister Evelyn K. (Jim) West, brother-in-law Larry D. Spencer, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one sister, Mavis I. Spencer.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at Russellville Cemetery, 12001-12509 N. CR 650 West, Russellville. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heart to Heart Hospice, 4529 South 7th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
