Share the Dream Spotlight: Family Support Services

Friday, June 8, 2018

This summer, 25 different charitable organizations, scholarships and endowments are participating in the Putnam County Community Foundation Share the Dream program. The fundraising program offers proportionally awarded grant prizes to participants who receive at least 10 donations of $25 or more between May 1 and Aug. 31. Each of the 25 organizations will be highlighted in this series.

Family Support Services of West Central Indiana (FSSWCI) provides strength-based, family-centered prevention programs enabling at-risk families to build and sustain mental and emotional health. The organization strives to facilitate a non-violent, nurturing community where every individual can reach his or her full potential.

Family Support Services provides everyone they serve with the resources they need to thrive and prosper. They provide families with trauma-informed, preventive-based services, provide community education, promote positive parenting techniques and promote victim’s rights.

Family Support Services, established in 1976, is a not-for-profit organization that provides services to Putnam, Owen, Clay, Montgomery and Boone counties with a mission to prevent child abuse, neglect and domestic violence through education, guidance, intervention and supportive services.

Each year Family Support Services serves more than 1,000 families through their Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Intervention Programs, Healthy Families and other outreach initiatives.

This year Family Support Services is participating in Share the Dream to begin achieving their goal of doubling the size of their endowment over the next three years. All who support the development of healthy families, who believe that abuse, neglect and domestic violence of all kinds have no place in our community are encouraged to donate.

Gifts can be made in honor or memory of a friend, loved one or someone you know who has been a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse or has benefited from their programs.
