Father’s Day love theme for BCB

The Brazil Concert Band, directed by Matthew S. Huber, willl present ”I Do! I Do!” on Father’s Day Sunday, June 17.

The free concert will begin at 8 p.m. rain or shine at Forest Park in Brazil.

The concert celebrates love and marriage with love themes from Mozart and Wagner to Broadway and even band works by John Philip Sousa and Karl L. King.

Matt and Melanie Huber’s daughter, Janelle, will guest conduct and play flute and piccolo.

Janelle and her fiance Robert Frasier will marry this week. She is band director at Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D. Among the love themed selections are “The Bride-Elect March” from Sousa’s operetta by the same name, “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner and “The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart.

Broadway love songs come from “I Do! I Do! arranged by Frank Erickson, “My Fair Lady” arranged by R.R. Bennett and “Guys and Dolls” in a setting by Calvin Custer.

The BCB will also serenade the audience with “A Night in June,” “Lovers Lane” and “Enchanted Night” all by Karl L. King.

Sousa’s “The Fairest of the Fair” and the Red River High School song “Rough-Riders,” named for their mascot Theodore Roosevelt, and written by King will be presented.
