Doris Margaret Stokes

Doris Margaret Stokes, 85, Roachdale, died Tuesday, June 12 at her home with her devoted husband of 67 years by her side.

Doris was born Oct. 28, 1932 in Indianapolis to Frances and Emma Byrnes.

On July 15, 1950 she married the love of her life, Jack Stokes.

Doris worked at Wilco in Indianapolis as her first job. She then worked as a cook at Bainbridge Elementary for many years.

Doris was an active member of Roachdale Baptist Church where she served along side her husband as a deacon.

Doris was always active with her family. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

She will be remembered for her crazy, fun-loving spirit, her laughter, her love for making jokes and most importantly her dancing.

Doris is survived by her husband, Jack; her children, Michael (Sandy) Stokes, Johnny (Delane) Stokes, Pamela (Travis) Ivers and Mark Stokes; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; five brothers, Donald, Leroy, Lawrence, Raymond and Jimmy, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Emma; and 10 siblings, Jean, Donald, Grace, Renee, Midge, Ernie, Tom, Max, Phyllis and Wayne.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at Roachdale Baptist Church, 1 N. Lonoke St., Roachdale.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, June 15 from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
