Youth Firefighter Academy set June 25-29 at Robe-Ann Park

With the annual Police Boot Camp effort concluding Friday at Robe-Ann Park, it's time to turn to annual emergency services group for the June 25-29 Youth Firefighter Academy.

The Greencastle Fire Department will partner with the city Parks and Recreation Department for the program designed for middle school-aged youngsters.

Participants will explore the career of a firefighter through fire extinguisher and fitness training, team-building exercises, hose drills and more.

It is scheduled for 9 a.m. until noon each day at shelterhouse No. 2 (adjacent to the skatepark) at Robe-Ann.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, June 19. The program fee is $10 per child, which includes hat, T-shirt and snacks.

Preregistration is required. Forms are available at City Hall or persons may go online to register at www.greencastleparks.com.
