Stoplight Work Begins

Thursday, June 21, 2018
Starting the process on a project area residents have long called for, workers from Hoosier Co. Inc. perform preliminary work at State Road 240 and Percy Julian Drive/Zinc Mill Road Wednesday morning. A fully functional stoplight will be installed at the East Side location, following eight years as a four-way stop. As of late May, the Indiana Department of Transportation projected a completion date for the project of Monday, June 25. However, INDOT also cited a possible start date of June 4, more than two weeks before work actually began. Since Wednesday morning, work has been further delayed by rain on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. The estimated $178,000 project is part of an overall $422,747 contract with the Hoosier Co. that also includes installing stoplights at Brazil in Clay County and at Montmorenci in Tippecanoe County.
