Share the Dream Spotlight: Putnam County Public Library

Friday, June 22, 2018

This summer, 25 different charitable organizations, scholarships and endowments are participating in the Putnam County Community Foundation Share the Dream program. The fundraising program offers proportionally awarded grant prizes to participants who receive at least 10 donations of $25 or more between May 1 and Aug. 31. Each of the 25 organizations will be highlighted in this series.

The mission of the Putnam County Public Library is to provide a welcoming space to discover, connect and create.

The library has something to offer everyone. It has books in both physical and digital formats, movies, games, programs and events for people of all ages, art classes, yoga, help with job applications, an adult literacy program, summer reading programs, an outreach program that delivers books directly to the homes of those who can’t come to the library in person and so much more.

Overall, the library staff strives to meet the needs of our community in every way possible.

The Putnam County Public Library Endowment was established in 1991. With this sustainable funding source the library hopes to continue its goals of meeting the growing needs of the community, to grow its services and collections, to provide space for creativity and learning and to recruit knowledgeable and friendly staff to assist patrons.

To reach this goal, the PCPL would like to see 100 Putnam County residents donate to its endowment. While many aspects of daily library operations are funded by tax dollars, the vast majority of the library’s unique programs and services are funded by donations.

If you have a passion for education, creativity, and discovery, consider donating to the Putnam County Public Library Endowment. With the community’s support, anything can be achieved.
