Curb Enthusiasm

Monday, June 25, 2018
Workmen from CC & T Construction, Indianapolis, continue to make pretty, pretty, pretty good progress Monday in removing the corner swales of brick pavers and limited curbing to install new curbs and smoother concrete areas while adding handicap accessibility at the corners of the north side of the Courthouse Square. The work is part of the city sidewalk project being funded by a Community Crossings grant. The brick paver areas were installed as part of the Main Street Greencastle downtown renovation project of the mid-1980s.

  • I must say I drove by the construction area tonight and I was very disappointed on how far out this new curbing is protruding into the roadway. This causes more problems that whatever problem the city was trying to fix.

It causes one to make a severe turn out to the other lane just to get around the curbing.

Also, the new curbing is three times higher than the old curbing which is an accident waiting to happen.

I will finish with this comment to Mayor Dory and the City Council, just because there was Community Grant money available doesn't mean you have to spend it on a non-existent problem.
