Share the Dream Spotlight: Putnam County SWCD

Tuesday, July 10, 2018

This summer, 25 different charitable organizations, scholarships and endowments are participating in the Putnam County Community Foundation Share the Dream program. The fundraising program offers proportionally awarded grant prizes to participants who receive at least 10 donations of $25 or more between May 1 and Aug. 31. Each of the 25 organizations will be highlighted in this series.

The Putnam County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) Endowment is excited to announce that it has become a scholarship.

The SWCD will be awarding the first Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship in spring of 2019. Anyone interested in conservation in Putnam County and wanting to see future generations be able to attend college to study life science or agriculture should consider donating to the Putnam County SWCD Scholarship Endowment.

Putnam County SWCD is a government supported organization, established by the State of Indiana to help Indiana residents conserve land, water, forests, wildlife and related natural resources.

The district, established in 1946, is a legal subdivision of state government with contributions from federal, state, county and private sectors.

Switching to a scholarship endowment has helped Putnam County SWCD’s long-term goal of impacting Putnam County graduates. As the endowment grows, Putnam County SWCD will be able to provide more funds to each graduate or help additional graduates. Putnam County SWCD believes that just as soil and water are precious resources, so are the youth of Putnam County.
