County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 12:06 p.m. Cassidy Jane Frost, 21, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for possession of stolen property and resisting law enforcement.

Saturday

• At 12:13 a.m. Carrie Ann Bandy, 42, Bowling Green, was taken into custody on a Vigo County warrant.

Friday

• At 9:11 p.m. Tammy Lee Jones, 37, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:13 a.m. Sunday, Braylen Bollman, 19, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding.

Stopped by Officer Nick Eastham on Fillmore Road, Bollman was cited for 58 mph in a 30-mph zone.

• At 1:50 p.m. Saturday, Thomas Terry, 64, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Tommy Downing.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Terry was cited for having no valid driver’s license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, James K. Martin, 42, Quincy, was westbound on State Road 42 in a 2007 Dodge Charger when he hit a deer.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 5:31 a.m. on Friday, Arthur N. Lowe, 68, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 500 East in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup. As he approached County Road 325 South he lost control of the car and left the road.

The truck missed the curve, barely missing a guardrail to a bridge and going down a ravine, hitting several trees.

Lowe told Deputy Brian Helmer that as he was rounding a corner, another vehicle’s headlights blinded him, causing him to miss the turn.

Lowe had minor bleeding on his face. Operation Life treated him at the scene.

The truck was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:41 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, Sylvia D. Tiedeman, 21, Cloverdale, was eastbound on County Road 1050 South, approaching a left turn in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, when she hit a deer.

The vehicle then ran off the road and hit a tree.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

•At 5:22 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 1600 W. CR 225 South for a report of an electrical odor. Units arrived at 5:26 p.m. and conducted a search for the odor but found nothing.

They left the scene at 5:47 p.m.

•At 9:07 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 614 Anderson St. for a report of a gas line rupture. Firefighters arrived at 9:11 a.m. and conducted an a analysis of nearby homes.

Vectren arrived on the scene and released units at 10:06 a.m.

•At 12:29 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was called to assist the Greencastle Police Department at 107 S. Indiana St. to identify an unknown substance. Units arrived at 12:30 p.m. and identified the substance.

They were cleared by GPD at 1:16 p.m.

•At 5:37 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 95 Ridgeway St. for a gas leak in a camper. Firefighters arrived at 5:41 p.m. and conducted a gas test after shutting the camper’s stove off.

They cleared the scene at 5:50 p.m.

•At 6:58 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Bloomington Street for a motor vehicle accident without injuries. They arrived at 7:02 p.m. and were charged with cleaning up debris and oil.

They cleared the scene at 7:32 p,.m.

Additionally, GFD conducted four medical runs and had one disregard during this time.
