South Putnam announces opening dates

South Putnam Community Schools will open the 2018-19 school year on Friday, Aug. 3 for students in kindergarten through grade 12.

All kindergarten students must be five years old on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible to enroll. Students will be in attendance all day on Aug. 3 and lunch will be served. New students will need a copy of their birth certificate and immunization records. Proof of legal guardianship may be required.

Online registration for all buildings will start Thursday, July 19.

Student enrollment and book rental will be as follows:

Central Elementary -- Wednesday, July 25 from noon to 7 p.m.

Fillmore Elementary -- Wednesday, July 25 from noon to 7 p.m. and Thursday, July 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

South Putnam Middle School/High School -- The Student Resource and Learning Center will be open for registration beginning July 23 through July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

-- Open Thursday, July 26 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. (closed for lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.).

• Elementaries may also use the Student Resource and Learning Center. The technology staff will be there for assistance.

All registration must be completed by Friday, July 27 at 3 p.m.

All mandatory state and corporation forms are included in the online registration.

Parents should make every effort to register during those days. If this is not possible, please contact your school to make arrangements. Parents unable to pay book rental fees during the scheduled time periods should contact their building principal prior to the first day of school to make arrangements for payment.

Principals will be in their offices from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, beginning Thursday, July 19.

For parents who may qualify for free and reduced lunches and textbooks, applications are available on the website or can be picked up at the middle school/ high school. To save time during the registration process, parents are encouraged to download the application and return it in advance to the middle school/ high school.

South Putnam Middle School/High School students’ schedules and book fees will be available online to view starting July 19.

Students with schedule conflicts or questions should contact the high school office at 653-3148 to schedule an appointment with a guidance counselor.

Starting July 23, when online registration is completed, the student can come into the Student Resource/Learning Center and purchase his or her parking pass for $5, their parking form will have to be completed prior to receiving their tag. Athletic passes will also be available for purchase.
