Clover cheerleaders complete clean sweep at cheer contest

Monday, July 23, 2018

Cloverdale High School’s cheerleading team dominated the Putnam County cheerleading competition on Saturday night, winning every award possible.

The Clovers won the Small Varsity Division title by defeating seven other teams, and were also the winners of the Spirit Award and the All-County award (over Greencastle, North Putnam and South Putnam).

To top things off, Clover senior Lilly Brown won the Outstanding Senior Cheerleader Award.

Other members of the victorious Clover squad were Morgan Allen, Brook Bowling, Kenzie Stoltz, Alexa Wynia, Lindsey Minton, Phoebe McDonald, Ashlynn Basore, Chloe Smith, Gayle Baugh, Allison Taylor and Emily Byford.

The competition was moved indoors at Greencastle’s McAnally Center due to weather concerns, and approximately 1,500 rabid fans successfully navigated the venue change to cheer on their favorite teams.

Plainfield won the Large Varsity Division, defeating Greencastle, while Greencastle topped Tri-West and North Putnam to win the Freshman Division.
