‘A Mid-Summer Offering’ Sunday for Brazil Band
BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band and director Matthew S. Huber will present “A Mid-Summer Offering” Sunday, July 29.
The free concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Forest Park at Brazil, rain or shine.
In “Richard Rodgers: A Symphonic Portrait” listeners will enjoy several all-time Broadway favorites in a setting by Frank Erickson.
By popular demand, the BCB performs “The Wizard of Oz” arranged by James Barnes including “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” “The Merry Old Land of Oz” and “If I Only Had a Brain.”
From Europe comes “La Belle Helene” by Jacques Offenbach and “Slavonic Dances” by Antonin Dvorak.
Indiana’s March King Fred Jewell wrote “Revelry Overture” during World War I and from his circus days, “Quality-plus.”
An excerpt from “Smoky Mountain Suite” by Theron Kirk, “Transcontinental” by Harry Hughes, “The Lt. Commander” by Karl L. King and “The Diplomat” by John Philip Sousa complete this week’s show.
