Mallie Jeannean Hill

Mallie Jeannean Hill, 79, of Greencastle, and formerly of Riley, passed away at 4:22 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 in her residence.

She was born March 5, 1939 in Wilfred, Ind., to James Elmer Street and Martha Mallie (Conley) Street.

Her survivors include her husband of 60 years, Melvin I. Hill of Greencastle, whom she married on Dec. 22, 1957; children Jim Hill (Teresa) of Bedford, Elizabeth Butts (Jerry) of Greencastle, and Greg Hill (Monica) of Terre Haute; grandchildren Zandy Hill, Talena Hill, A.J. Kerr (Megan Peters), Nick Kerr (Jesse), Courtney Morgan (Mike Collins), Shawna Perez, Lucas Morgan (Sarah), Tyler Butts (Emily), Dwayne Hill, Daniel Hill (Jessica), David Slater Jr. (Jessica) and Sabrina Frost (Chris); great-grandchildren Eli Keller, Lexi Hardey, Caleb Jones, Zach Morgan, Kendall Courtright, Grady Courtright, Andrew Morgan, Samantha Morgan, Benji Perez, Jace Hill, Ellisyn Hill, Seth Hill, Colin Hill, Logan Brenton, Samantha Slater, Makayla Crowley, Austin Slater and Nathan Abel; great-great-grandson Leelynn Reynolds; Jeannean's siblings Judy McAnally (Leslie) of Hymera, sisters-in-law JoAnn Phegley (Dave) of Beech Grove, and Vicki Gardner of Jasonville; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Karen Schriver (Jerry), brother, James Street, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Violet Hill, nephew, Kevin Phegley and brother-in-law, Bob Gardner.

Jeannean graduated from Hymera High School in the Class of 1957.

She previously worked at West Central Indiana Economic Development District, Modesitt Insurance, Wabash Valley Council of the Girl Scouts of America, Sears and was co-owner and operator of Hill TV and Appliances.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hymera.

She was involved with Rainbow Girls, Order of Eastern Star, Ladies' Auxiliary of the Riley Lions Club. She was also a Brownie leader and Cub Scout leader and a member of the Indiana Genealogical Society.

Jeannean was an avid reader, liked watching movies, sewing and playing board games. She loved spending time with the grandkids. She was a care-giver to everyone and loved hosting the semi-annual family reunion.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 S. Meridian St., Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Funeral Home with Sister Dana Duncan officiating.

Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wilfred.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jeannean to Wabash Valley Council of Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or the Genealogical Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
