A Light at the End?

Wednesday, August 1, 2018
As afternoon traffic continues around them Wednesday afternoon, workers from the Hoosier Company continue work at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Percy Julian Drive/Zinc Mill Road. In a project that has proceeded sporadically throughout the summer, the resumed work is a sign of progress with a week until school is set to begin at nearby Greencastle Middle School and Greencastle High School.

  • Sporadically is right. So it may not be done before school starts? There should have been an August 1 deadline. Imagine the gridlock when Indianapolis Road is rebuilt between Kroger and McDonalds!

  • Hey Ben- do you realize this is an INDOT project? Locals don't have much if any control over the timing, just input and request to work around the school calendar. Earlier reports on this project stated that it was being done, as well as other projects in the C'ville District, by a subcontractor and the timing was up to them. All State contracts do have a deadline, but it is undoubtedly later in the fall/construction season.
