Monday, August 6, 2018

Escar Curtis "Bud" App, 87, of Bainbridge passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5 at his residence.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1931 to Kenneth Benjamin and Margaret Evelyn Collier App.

Bud held many positions over the years -- mechanic, truck driver, farmer, ironworker, business owner -- but the position he enjoyed the most was that of a proud father.

He married his daisy, Joanna Jeffries, on Sept. 3, 1949, and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Basil App; two siblings, Edwin App and Lana Beck; one grandchild, Summer Rose App, and one great-grandchild, Tyler Kenneth Dean App.

Along with Joanna, he is survived by seven children Barbara Woods (Eddie), Larry App (Tosha), Debbie Muehlenbein (Jim), David App (Theresa), Donna Wallace (Mike), Margie Zimmerman (Randy) and Anna Logan (Glenn); 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his siblings, John App, Mooresville, Sandra (Fred) Brock, Frankfort, Janet Draper, Brighton, Neb., Joe (Marge) App, Greencastle, and Sharon Ensor, Bainbridge, and too many nieces and nephews to count.

Bud was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, helping his family with projects, mowing and working in his shop.

There was no end to the stories he would share and the jokes he could tell. If you were in Bud's presence, you were smiling and laughing.

He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church and Ironworkers Local 22.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at New Life Baptist Church, Greencastle. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Bainbridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Baptist Church, 51 Ridgeway St., Greencastle, IN 46135.

Arrangements were entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
