National Night Out event postponed by weather

Tuesday, August 7, 2018

The stormy weather and damp conditions at Robe-Ann Park have forced the postponement of Tuesday's National Night Out event, organizers have announced.

The rain date will be Thursday, Aug. 9, from 5-8 p.m. at Robe-Ann Park.

This will be the 12th year that the Putnam County Youth Development Commission has organized the event.

National Night Out is free and open to the public, and local eateries will provide pizza, hotdogs, snow cones, popcorn, fruit, water and lemonade, all of which is donated.

Through the generosity of the 30 participating organizations, children K-12 will receive school supplies through a game of bingo.

National Night Out is annually staged on the same night in communities across the country to promote police programs like drug prevention and neighborhood watches.
