CLOVERDALE -- A routine commercial vehicle inspection Wednesday morning on Interstate 70 near the Cloverdale exit resulted in the discovery of what authorities estimate as $1 million worth of marijuana.

About 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on I-70 in Putnam County was stopped for a routine commercial vehicle inspection near the 41-mile marker at Cloverdale, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.

During the inspection process the trooper reportedly noticed several criminal indicators.

A search of the trailer yielded 260 pounds of hydroponic marijuana concealed within a legitimate load of fresh lettuce. The street value of an amount of marijuana that size is estimated at $1 million, authorities said.

The lettuce was being transported from Colorado to Florida.

The driver and co-driver were taken into custody and incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail.

Arrested on felony dealing marijuana charges were Jorge Blanco-Diaz, 33, of Miami, and Adan Labanino Delacruz, 40, of Cutler Bay, Fla.
