As high school football teams throughout the state take to the gridiron for Friday scrimmages, the four Putnam County teams warm up for next week's official season openers. Among the local players in on the action are Greencastle's Alex Costin (10, above) as he gets back to his feet after making a touchdown catch against Southmont, and Cloverdale's Logan Abner (23, below) breaking through tacklers against South Vermillion.

Meanwhile at North Putnam, Cougar senior Chris Murray (23) goes in untouched for a short touchdown against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter.

At South Putnam, tight end Jackson Wood (40) hauls in a pass and finds open some space in the Indianapolis Lutheran defense, setting himself up for a long gain.
