Tzouanakis third-graders create pollinator garden

Third-grade students from Tzouanakis Intermediate School were recently awarded a grant through the Putnam County Youth Foundation for $500.

Retired Greencastle teacher John Garner, along with The Castle Program, introduced many pollinator garden ideas to the students.

Students from Julia Stevens’ classroom did research on pollinator gardens, taught the content to other third-grade classrooms, and wrote a grant.

All third-graders had the opportunity to create a sign.

Garner picked several designs to be made into signs and displayed in the garden.
