Death on East Washington Street being investigated as suicide

Local authorities are investigating a Tuesday-evening death on East Washington Street as a suicide.

Putnam County Coroner Dave Brown confirmed for the Banner Graphic that his office investigated a death in the 700 block of East Washington Street.

While the name of the subject is not being disclosed, Brown reported that the man became upset and shot himself on the front porch of the residence.

Deputy Coroner Steve Walters, along with officers from the Greencastle Police Department and Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, investigated the incident.

The Greencastle Fire Department provided further assistance at the scene.
