Nina R. Goodman Hurst

Nina R. Goodman Hurst, 80, Danville, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in Harrodsburg, Ky., with loved ones by her side.

Born June 6, 1938, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Jacob V. Goodman and Madonna (Rambo) Goodman Underwood.

A 1956 graduate of Greencastle High School, she retired from DePauw University in 1999 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Greencastle First Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 3284 in Roachdale. Also, she was a member of the HRH Cardiac Rehab program.

During her lifetime, she enjoyed the great outdoors and appreciated it immensely. She loved to travel, watch NASCAR racing, sew and was an avid McDonald's Happy Meal toy collector.

She married Wilfred D. Hurst on Sept 25, 1993, and he recently preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Vernon R. Saunders, Fredonia, Ky.; one daughter, V. Sue Saunders Bright and husband Chris, Harrodsburg, Ky.; two stepsons, Dr. Stanley L. Hurst, Greencastle, and Stephen L. Hurst and companion Phyllis Hayman, Reelsville; one grandson, Dr. Jacob Saunders DVM, Gainesville, Fla.; one step-granddaughter, Jayme Barber, Greencastle; one step-great grandson, Kevin Polster and one step-great granddaughter, Katelyn Barber; two sisters, Mae (John) Archer, Kokomo, and Madonna (Jim) Hurst, Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Randy (Debbie) Underwood, Greencastle, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, stepfather Francis E. Underwood and two sons, Terry W. Saunders and Timothy D. Saunders, both of Florida.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25 with services following at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale.

Burial will immediately follow at New Providence Cemetery near Belle Union.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Nina's memory.
