Hunger Coalition project praised

Friday, August 31, 2018

To The Editor:

The Putnam County Young Farmers would like to thank the sponsors of their Hunger Coalition project.

The group was able to raise money to purchase four hogs at the Putnam County 4-H Livestock Auction which were processed into ground meat by Rice’s Quality Farm Meats in Spencer. The ground meat will be distributed to five food pantries in Putnam County for distribution to families this fall.

The Young Farmer group appreciates the support of all of those who made this project possible.

Sponsors include Aames Title & Closing, Keith Berry Farms, Steve and Kathy Brower, Cedar View Farms and the Riley Sutherlin Memorial Fund, Legan Livestock, Courtney Mann, Andrew and Chelsey Meluch, John and Paula Meluch, Monical’s Pizza, Putnam County Farm Bureau, ReMax Cornerstone Realty, Nick and Beth Tharp and White Oak Farms.

The Putnam County Young Farmers Group is always looking for new members. Young individuals or families who are interested in agriculture and within the ages of 18-35 are encouraged to become involved.

Members tour agricultural sites, learn about different aspects of the agricultural industry and support agricultural efforts in the community.

For more information and for meeting times, contact Beth Tharp at elegan22@gmail.com or Chelsey Meluch at chelsey.meluch@gmail.com.
