Russellville to celebrate 36th annual Roundup Sept. 8-9

RUSSELLVILLE -- Featuring music, food and old-time fun, the 36th annual Russellers' Roundup celebration is scheduled this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9.

All events will be at the Russellville Community Center with breakfast served both mornings from 8-10:30 a.m. featuring homemade cinnamon rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits and omelets.

Lunch/dinner will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. Fish, tenderloin, kettle cooked ham and beans with cornbread, coneys, hot dogs, sloppy joe, macaroni salad, potato salad, slaw, chips, nachos, watermelon, sliced tomatoes and homemade pie will be served, along with a variety of drinks.

Saturday events will begin with free PhotoWalk at 8 a.m., sponsored by Cathy Jones Photography of Russellville and the Russellville Depot. Any questions can be directed to Cathy Jones at 765-376-1260.

At 10 a.m. registration for the Mini (one and four cylinders) Tractor Pull is scheduled. The tractor pull begins at 11 a.m. behind the Community Center. For questions about the pull, persons may contact Tom Howell at 765-866-0383.

New this year in the gymnasium will be roller skating from noon to 3 p.m. Cost is $3 per person, skates provided.

Starting at 3:30 p.m. will be registration for cornhole with the cost $10 per team. Jim McGaughey, who is in charge of the event, can be reached at 765-307-6078 if anyone has questions.

Sunday's events will include the regular church service at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium. Amy Jo Potter, Country and Gospel Singer will then be performing from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Also in the gymnasium at 3 p.m. will be a baby contest (up to 18 months, boy and girl winners), Junior Little Miss and Mister contest (19 months to three years, boy and girl winners), Little Miss and Mister contest (4-7 years, boy and girl winners). The entertainment is free to the public. Mike Simpson will also have his antique tractors to view.

Times are Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for food vendors, homemade desserts, local crafts booths, cotton candy, snow cones and lemon shake-ups.
