Northview is the only Western Indiana Conference team to receive votes in this week’s Associated Press high school football rankings.

The 3-0 Knights, who defeated Sullivan 50-20 last week to stay perfect on the season, received 14 votes to hold down the No. 14 spot in the Class 4A rankings.

South Putnam had received votes in the Class A rankings the first two weeks, but did not receive any votes this week after suffering its first loss of the season 20-2 to North Putnam.

Evansville Central, coached by former South Putnam coach Troy Burgess, stayed undefeated last week by defeating Evansville Bosse 42-6 and is tied for fourth place this week in Class 4A with Lowell. The Bears, who received one first-place vote, were eighth last week.

Other potential sectional opponents receiving votes are Monrovia (10th in Class 3A), Tri-West (16th in Class 3A), Western Boone (No. 3 in Class 2A), Tipton (No. 4 in Class 2A).

Indianapolis Lutheran, coached by former North Putnam boss Dave Pasch, is 14th in Class A.

Statistically, Greencastle is ranked 35th overall and ninth in Class 3A defensive points allowed with 10 per game. South Putnam is tied for 47th among all teams with an average of 11.33 points allowed per game.

North Putnam averages 32 points per game, falling just short of being ranked in that category.

Northview is tied for 28th overall in scoring (seventh in 4A) with an average of 42.33 points per game.
