Tzouanakis Intermediate School students will remain at alternate locations through at least the end of this week.

Greencastle Community Schools Supt. Jeff Hubble made the announcement to Tzouanakis parents with a 5:25 p.m. email on Wednesday.

Hubble reported that test results were sent to the lab on Tuesday afternoon and he had hoped to have results as of Wednesday evening.

However, the volume of samples to be tested made this impossible.

“Since we sent over 30 testing cups, with the projects that the lab already has, we are not going to be able to get the results until tomorrow (Thursday) at the earliest,” Hubble wrote. “Therefore, we are going to remain status quo with the current educational program for the remainder of this week.”

The status quo means third-grade students at Deer Meadow Primary School, fourth-grade at Ridpath Primary and fifth-grade at McAnally center, with pickup and dropoff at Greencastle Middle School.

Hubble reported that he expected to be able to make an announcement about test results and student placement next week once results are back.

“When results are back and processed, I will share an update with you again,” Hubble said. “Thank you for your continued patience and support.”

School officials discovered on Monday, Aug. 27 that reliable mold spore levels were not available for Tzouanakis and made the decision to close the building until further notice.

Tzouanakis students did not attend school on Tuesday, Aug. 28, and have now been at the alternate locations for more than a week.
